Welcome to Grit Gear
The Grit Gear shop is now open...
Online shop coming

Grit Gear was opened by two passionate
climbers living locally.
One of them has climbed many large mountains including trekking in the Himalayas
as well as various sport and traditional routes all over Britain.
The other comes from North East of England and also a Traditional climber who is
at home on Yorkshire and Peak gritstone. With only a few winter seasons under
his belt there is plenty of room for progression.
We offer high quality equipment for all your outdoor needs at reasonable prices.
Whether you are planning a short weekend away with family, or a full expedition
in extreme climates, we are always pleased to offer help and advice on your
climbing, camping, Trekking and Travel requirements.
We understand the importance of community and are the only climbing shop in
Derby. Down to earth and knowledgeable staff means you receive top notch
customer service as well as a friendly face.
We are the Main Sponsor of the University of Derby’s Mountaineering and Climbing
Club, and supply them with any equipment they need. One of the directors of Grit
Gear was a founding member of UDMC www.derbyclimbing.co.uk
and hopefully the shop will be as
successful as the club, whose climbers are improving every year, especially with
derby getting its own climbing wall earlier this year. www.alter-rock.co.uk
We will happily write quotations for any large or small orders you may have. Due
to our relationship with many of Britain’s largest distributors we are able to
source most things to meet your requirements, even if we do not hold it in
stock.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We look forward to your custom
